Preservation

There is a well established preservation section in the department where documents are preserved from various deteriorating agents using techniques like Dusting, Spraying Insecticide, Fumigation & Deacidification, Guarding, Full Pasting, Tissuing, Lamination and Chiffoning, Binding of Records. etc.
The fragile documents are restored by techniques like Flattening, Handmade repair, Tissue repair, Hand lamination & Chiffon repairing. In 2009-10 a pilot project was launched in Alwar branch for the purpose of conservation of 6000 historical documents and 45 maps of state period. It was carried out by out-sourcing agencies. In future, it is planned to get it done at large scale with the help of out-sourcing agencies.
